Coexistence Impossible
Non-GMOs & Organics become light-weight GMOs

GM rye grass cannot be contained if released into the environment. It will spread and contaminate other plants. NZ First gave this as a supporting reason as to why they are NOT supporting the bill as is.
Directly below is a short clip from AgResearch’s oral submission. You can listen to their full submission here followed by some comments from Marty Robinson.
At the end of the clip, Dr Richard Scott says if it is going to be released, it will be safe.
As an aside, where have we heard that before! The gene-based Covid-19 vaccine, despite claims of safety made by regulatory bodies all around the world, has proven to be anything but safe. Study after study show harmful ongoing effects. For instance, view this recent paper BREAKING: Second Massive Population Study Finds COVID-19 "Vaccines" Increase Risk of 6 Major Cancers and this note.
At the Plant Breeders Conference in Christchurch, Dr Caradus, the NZPBRA president, stated GE rye grass, clover, pine trees and Epichloë endophyte (a grass-associated fungi) are all able to regularly outcross, i.e. breed with one not closely related. See here.
Claire Bleakley, president of GE Free NZ, pointed out in countries where the GE commercial crops of soy, canola, cotton and maize are grown, there is now a 97% contamination of the seed supply.
With 40% of NZ in pastoral land, the magnitude of contamination could be substantial. Buffer zones won't work as rye grass seeds can travel too far via the wind, by animals, in hay and on machinery. If released, will GM rye grass crowd out natural rye grasses? Eventually, will it be even possible to obtain uncontaminated, non-gm seeds? Hopefully, NZ First will stop this from happening now and into the future.
As an example from overseas, a slow growing, resistant-to-Roundup GM grass (designed for golf courses) escaped from its field trial location and spread widely. It is now causing significant problems for farmers. But that is not all. Scientists found that the modified grass had crossed with feral grasses, passing along its Roundup resistance as well as adversely affecting some endangered plants and insects. See here.
GM and non-GM coexistence has not and cannot work successfully.
Contrary to what the GM industry complex would like us believe, GM and non-GM coexistence cannot work successfully.
As illustrated above, GMOs once released cannot be contained and they cannot be recalled. GMOs have devastated the livelihoods of non-GMO growers. See here.
The non-GMO label permits low levels of GMOs.
So in actual fact, GMOs have contaminated the non-GMO food supply in GMO countries. This fact alone proves GMOs and non-GMOs cannot coexist. Non-GMO products lose their purity. In reality, they become light-weight GMO products.
And are they harmful? They could be as harm can take years to become apparent like the harms associated with smoking, but only worse as released GMOs are unstoppable. They will be with us forever.
